Bethel Water Treatment Plant

Basic Specification:

General Contractor:  Wellington Construction
Location:  Brant, Ontario
Stage: Complete
Construction Method:  Public Tender

Building System:  Pre-engineered

Services Rendered:  Design, Supply & Install Pre-engineered Structure

General Description:

ISI was asked to provide a competitive bid for the design, supply and erection of this structure and was awarded the project after coming in as low bid.  Although there were tender drawings, ISI was asked to produce design drawings which could be used to insure the proper integration of the ineterior mechanical systems and exterior wall assembly integration.

Design Highlights:
  • This 4,300 S/F facility housed an intricate water purification system which needed to account for extreme moisture levels.
  • The Main Frame was a Gable design which supported Lean-to frames on the North and South Ends.  The Main Entrance Canopy framing was designed as an independent structure.
  • All of the Main Frame Steel was sandblasted and epoxy painted to combat the high moisture levels.  The secondary framing was pre-galvanized and connected to the main frames using zinc plated bolts.
  •  The roofing assembly is a 5" thick insulated panel which met the SB-10 thermal requirements and is proven system for high moisture content assemblies.  ISI provided custom detailing for the soffit assembly which needed to support the architectural soffit panel while maintaining a weather tight and sealed assembly.
  • The wall assembly is a 4" insulated panel which integrates with the masonry cavity wall assembly with brick veneer and glass block assembly.
  • By working together with the General Contractor and the consultants, ISI was able to provide a building that was not only functional but aesthetically pleasing.
